Default Just a little bit of history repeating (political)

Quote:
Russia needs "to develop offensive weapons systems" to counter US missile defences and maintain the strategic balance, PM Vladimir Putin says.
Otherwise, the United States would feel "completely protected" and able to "do whatever they want", Mr Putin added.

Anyone else getting that 1985 vibe going on?

Ah well, I find it amusing how things repeat, even after the fall of the curtain

Completely normal to me. If Russia would build missile defence system to, say, Mexico, the US would then build something that could pass it.

Oh, I agree, I just find it amusing that no matter how much things change they seem to stay exactly the same

US and Russia still dont trust each other, so in that regard, much havent changed from the cold war days. (And I dont except them to change anytime soon)

I think Russia has a real problem coming to terms with the fact that the US has actually left them way back in their wake regarding military power and the projection of such.

Contrary to popular belief the Cold War never ended. The players are the same, just some of them changed their name.

Quite true, especially with Putin calling the shots through his puppet Medvedev. The recent conflict in Georgia shows how willing Russia is to bullying neighboring states into submission... the curtain may have fallen but so much stays the same.
