Default Boat Damage/Save Point

Hi guys, ya got a great site here with lots of knowledgable sailors!

First post with probably many to follow. Just got started in SH4 after FlightSimming for about 9yrs. Was an AirForce brat that went AE in the USN. Spent time on the Enterprise(damn flat top!).

OK, I'm getting boat damage when coming back to the sim after a save point. It's like a collision or something strange.

Any help is appreciated and thanks a million,
Gary

Welcome aboard!

Hmm. That's an odd one. You're not near a reef or in really shallow water are you?

Sometimes you come back into a save game and all sorts of incorrect nonsense is being shouted out by your crew.

Check out your subsystems - the crossed spanners. Top left is hull damage %

I had that happen one time but it was only systems damage... not hull damage. Always figured it something about the save. The crew fixed it and we moved on...

not really, hull damage is very common save issue in shallow water or it used to be anyway

I recently started a save just outside Pearl when I noticed smoke from inside the harbor. I went external cam and flew over to check and a cruiser that was supposed to spawn inside a slip was up on the dock and just jittering away like crazy. It remined me when I made a Battlefield 42 mod and I had panzers spawning a couple hundred feet in the air and raining down on me.
I imagine you're close to something and hitting it or a mis-spawn coordinate collision with the 'water' when you are being 'dropped' into the world is causing the damage.

It's a pain but i just treat it as an equipment breakdown when I have had it happen.
