Default Range Calculation Accurate?

On my last mission , just for laughs I took my diesel powered sub (ie range 8000 miles) across the Atlantic to Newfoundland, Grand Banks Region cruising at 6kn, sinking 4 ships there. Made it back to the base at Wilhelmshaven with at least half a tank of fuel.

Do you think this is realistic. If I could do that, then New York isn't out of reach I don't think and certainly Halifax would be in range.

I was out for over 5 weeks, kind of a long mission, but good with 60k in tons sunk. Anybody else gone for a long cruise?

Can't say that I have. I'm just trying to run a career the whole war, but since I play in spurts, it's taking some time.

Default Range?

Looks like it IS accurate - as per the cruise of the U-53 which operated off the US coast in 1916.

Kinda interesting that the Germans had subs that could reach the Eastern seaboard (without refueling) at that point.
