Default simulation hardware

An interesting development:

A while back I posted a topic about HOTAS in a subsim. Seems someone was listening (or is that just my ego? )

I haven't read all the specs, maybe it's not 100% applicable for a sub-/u-boat sim. But the fact that a hardware developer has made something for the ship enthousiast is nice development I think.

Thoughts anyone?

Potentially interesting, but I think a suitably programmed HOTAS system would be more appropriate for subs. This seems just a little basic for me and would mean recourse to the keyboard at least some of the time.

I agree (now that I've read the specs). Though I think it's an encouraging first stip.

very cool indeed.

I noticed that these systems first started hitting the market several years ago when the first "ship simulator" was released.

though from the standpoint of functionality

in a tug boat simulator - EPIC!

in a multifaceted world war 2 u-boat simulator... these particular devices would be completely useless.

one would need a device with many many many switches and buttons - all programable - yet compact enough to sit on your desktop.

but like i said before - i want to be the commander... not the helmsman.
