Using TMO 2.5 and RSRD.
1. Is there a good tutorial out there on how to manage the crew? Forgive me, I feel dense. For the life of me I don't understand what the purpose of everything is. I understand they all have ratings but I'm confused about who to put where and when exactly do they go up in ranking. In SH3, it was more clear, you returned to base and you could promote and they would gain experience. In SH4, the patrols are very long and I don't want to keep running back to Pearl Harbor if I can refuel/rearm and go on my way. With the mods I'm running, there is mention of some special character that should never be touched. I don't understand these things lol. Also, moving them out of their spots to the guns, when I haven't told them to man the guns.. are they there or not? 2. The radio communications in SH4 seem really lame compared to SH3. Am I missing something? I don't see any time stamps on the messages so all I see is a list of messages but I can't put them into the context of the date/time they were sent. This was an important part of SH3 for me. I like to see how long ago I was sent a certain message to determine whether or not it is relevant. Sorry if this is just a rant, I want to make sure I'm not missing something somewhere. Jeff |

torpedo compartment-effected by mechanic and gun stats.
Engine Compartment-mechanic and electrical Control Compartment-mechanic,electric,and watchman Conning tower/ sensors-electric,watchman Damage control-mechanic,electric,and gun Officer slots are in the Command/controlroom and give bonus to entire vessel. Leader slots give bonus to compartment. I can't remember where I found that so I can't credit who wrote it. Basically those skills are what you are looking for when moving guys around the sub. For the deck gun I usually leave it unmanned because for some reason it is hard coded that even when submerged the deck crew are still on the deck but invisible. During depth charge attacks they can be wounded and killed, so I keep them inside the sub. I usually just throw torpedomen into the deck gun slots. The special character has a green skill icon on their image on the crew management screen if you hover your mouse over the green icon it'll explain what it does. These guys usually need to be in a specific compartment for their special skill to work. |
