Missing crew after loading a saved game
Hi!
In 1942 I had a mission to patrol in one of the BE20's grid which I completed. I sank two american tankers and and a couple of medium sized merchants. I then docked at a milch cow sub and headed towards the south of ireland where I engaged successfully a convoy sinking four ships before I fell victim to depth charges from one of the escorting ships. However, when I tried to load from the previous save (in base before mission) the boat was empty and my crew was gone. I tried to recover them through sh3 commander but to no avail. Any suggetions on how to recover my beloved crew? I'm running the GWX 3.0 mod. |

I had a similar problem caused by sh3 commander`s realistic crew transfer option, i would get crew vanishing mid-patrol and sometimes just random crewmen appearing etc, i once left port with 48 crew and returned with 53!! if you have that feature enabled try turning it off...

![]() How can SH3Cmdr be the cause if you leave port with 48 men and return with 53? It's not even running! ![]() All SH3Cmdr does is modify attributes of the existing crew files when you start a new career, it does nothing else beyond this. The only other way SH3Cmdr modifies crew details is through user input via the Crew Manager screen. Last edited by JScones; 08-25-09 at 03:32 AM. |

Im guessing it happened when reloading the saved patrol via sh3commander.
I could be wrong about the cause but its never happened since i turned off the crew transfers option. |

The crew transfer feature will certainly alter the crew numbers, but that is intentional. You get a summary screen telling you what's going on though. The feature doesn't run mid-patrol though.
But this is not related to the OP's question, which is a problem that I've seen raised numerous times since the game was released. It's simply a result of the flaky SH3 save system. The OP should try to load the "in base after mission" save point (ie the mission before the one he wants to resume). FYI here's a thread on the same issue first started back in July 2005! http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...w+missing+save There's other similar threads - the common theme is that the user has died, then attempted to reload the "in base before mission" save point. Crew gone. |

It happened to me even after I died, I replaced
SeamenDead= nb OffWounded=nb POWounded=nb with SeamenDead=0 OffWounded=0 POWounded=0 in the Patrol_0.cfg Never could find a way to reinstate my crew. But that surely would have been changing quite a few things in the file, and would'nt have been easy even with WinMerge or whatever... Everything was ok, just all the crew gone. |
