Anybody else have this problem? It seems to happen half the time or more, even in calm seas and is very frustrating. I'm using the latest GWX mod.

May be you dont spend enough torps on them.In a preveous patrol i hit a large merchant and i took him more than hour to sink, but i didnt get the credit, although the sea was calm.I guess too much time to have passed since my attack.

Sometimes if you sink the ships in shallow waters, you will not get the credits.
Also, if you sink a ship, it respawns and you sink it again, you will not get the credits.

Regardless of the game conditions or circumstances surrounding the sinking, unless you get the "She's going down" message you will not get any credit or renown.
I've experienced this phenonema with a few different ship classes in the past, not just the Ore Carrier. |

I've now played the same patrol a bit more. Now it seems it wasn't just the ore carrier this time (though this was like the 4th ore carrier I haven't gotten credit for since I started playing a few weeks ago). I sunk a nearby large tanker, ceramic ocean liner, and an empire type freighter, all with no credit. It was all in shallow (BC48) water so I guess that could be the culprit. Then again on another patrol, I had zero trouble getting credit for three cruisers and the HMS Nelson in Gibraltar, which was in very shallower water.
I really wish the developer and publisher had actually playtested this game and worked out the bugs because it is a very good game with some serious issues that should have been fixed. Edit: Even tried reloading and resinking the ships two more times and got no credit. REALLY irritating. Last edited by Alien1099; 07-26-09 at 05:30 PM. |

Shrug it off.
![]() Not every submarine commander was credited with sinkings in real life. ![]()

I've just experienced the same thing with an Ore Carrier, in a convoy. Medium Merchant went down ok eventually, as did (MUCH later) a Fiji class. The Ore Carrier showed up on the kill list (Nov.26th 1940 10:47 CG89 8897t) but on the patrol report sent to BdU, the tonnage had not been added, nor had the number of ships sunk increased by one. As it happens, it made no difference anyway; as, after the Fiji finally sank and I headed towards Thalia, SH3 (yet again) decided to CTD. It remains to be seen if I can load the last save-game! (Now running at slightly over 20% failure-rate on saved games).
