Default Weird problem, help needed

I'm playing GWX 3 but this problem goes back to when I played GWX 2.

The problem occurs on the UZO page only. It occurs only during extremely high wind levels and high waves.

The problem: a rectangular mask intermittently covers the UZO binocular lenses for a few seconds at a time. It seems to happen when a wave covers the conning tower and then subsides when the water disipates. It is my opinion that this rectangular mask represents the image of water being seen through the UZO lens and should be located behind the UZO binocular image on this page (so you can see water through the lens, not as a rectangular mask on top) but some how has gotten out of place or on the wrong level.

This is kind of hard to explain, but I hope that I've made it somewhat clear. It doesn't affect game play too much but it is quite annoying.

Has anyone seen this problem before or does anyone have any ideas?

As most, I play with a number of mods. However, I don't think any of them would be affecting the UZO like this.

Can you post a screenshot?

Also let us know what type of U-boat you were sailing.

Honestly though, my first impression is that it is a graphics card or graphics driver issue. I've never encountered what you've described during all of my own testing.

The above picture was captured at night. During the day, it would generally be a dark greenish blue, the color of the ocean water.

This happens with all types of U-boats. It only appears with high wind and high waves. And it happens when water flows over the conning tower and UZO. That's why I believe this image or mask should be below that of the UZO; thus the water would only be seen in the lenes of the UZO, not a box overlying the UZO.

Has anyone else seen this?

In the early days I had an ATI 128MB card that replicated what you are experiencing.

Your card either isn't powerful enough or you may need to change the drivers.

The newer drivers are not always the best for your particular needs so you may have to revert back to an earlier set/version.

Default More information to go on

So far I've determoned that the UZO has a bare bones graphic file call UZO.tga It is the basic UZO background without any buttons, knobs or anything. It is not the problem.

I'd appreciate it if anyone could lead me to the file name for this mask that intermittently overlies my UZO in extremely bad weather. I suspect that it's also a (graphics) tga file. The sound file: Wave Bad Weather always plays immediately after the mask appears over the UZO.

Does anyone know what set of files are used to show through the lenes of the UZO? So far, I've searched the SH3 program folder for file names with ocean, wave, and sea but have come up with nothing.

Any suggestions, please.

I have an ATI video card in my laptop so I suspect you're correct. But, I'm hoping to determine which file is being used and eliminate it. This may or may not work, assuming that I can locate the offending file.

Any suggestions on the file name would be helpful.

I'm sorry my friend but I've absolutely no idea....my fix was to install a more powerful Nvidia card.
