[REQ] Some U-Boat Survivors?

I lost a U-Boat in the Med last week in Jun '43. I unable to maintain depth and was sinking slowly into oblivion. Rather than die, I thought of my crew, blew ballast and surfaced to save as much of my crew as I could.
Once there, I was promptly rammed and shot to pieces and sunk.

Of course I knew that once you're sunk, the game shows everyone killed and SH3Commander gives you the option to surrender if surfaced but my stats still show everyone dead.

My question:
Is there any way to modify the game or SH3Commander to show a percentage of the crew surviving if you are on the surface when sunk?
or is this hardcoded in the game?
