Can someone more familiar with the bloddy menu_1024_768.ini possibly provide some illumination... literally.
My sig contains my current mods so you can see I'm running the latest RFB 1.52 and a darker Rec Manual for night attacks. the default rec manual that comes with RFB is not set up to be darker at night so it's virtually impossible to spot anything while it's open. The .jpg below shows the current Rec manual background I'm using. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y18...inesweeper.jpg All I'd like to do is brighten the text. At night the darker background works well, but conversely it's so dark that in the day I can't bloddy well see the text values, descriptions etc. ![]() I assumed (bad idea) it was just a color change in the menu_1024_768.ini in the following areas and lines (see orange text): Quote:
I've seen pics where people have yellow or orange text for their ship info & values in their Rec Manual. That's all I'm tryin to accomplish here, but when I change the color I get nothin' in game. It still remains black and hard as hell to see during the day. Just as an FYI; I am making these changes while in port. Any assistance would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in advance. Regards, XonE:32

its best not to mess with the menu_1024 if you dont have to
you can change any game font if you open data/ menu/ fonts then experiment to find which file is used for the rec manual print theres a bunch of files and certain files are used for some of the fonts depending on the font size or what its for so you have to figure out which is yours. change a few letters to red or pink or something till you find which file it is, then all you do is go through that entire file with photo shop or other editor and change all the charactors to a color you find works best. |

For Instance: Even if I change the font color with Photoshop isn't the .ini still gonna tell it to show up as black? I'm not familiar with Hex colors so I don't know what "0xFE" is, but I assumed it was black. Or am I way off here? BTW, Thanks for the response. All the other stuff I read about this bloody .ini is for movin' stuff around the screen.

I was able to mitigate the unreadability of the black text slightly (i.e. I can see it a bit better) by changing the font lines above to 13. It's a bit bigger.
and I only changed it for the values as opposed to using it for both the names AND the values. But I'm a little surprised no one in the mod workshop knows how to change the text color from black to something more readable for the Recognition Manual in the Menu_1024_768.ini file? Who woulda thunk I'd stumble on to such a crazy mystery. ![]()

I've tried several hexadecimal variations (not the ones above, but others I've seen in the .ini file) to no effect. I assumed the ones I tried previously were other colors as I found them on the color lines for other items in the .ini. But, as they had no effect... who knows what they were. Many many thank-you's for this list above! ![]() I spent frickin' hours online trying to find a list like this or a converter to no avail. I thought I'd find like a color-to-hex or hex-to-color converter relatively easily, but I guess my search skills blow. Now to test: I will plug in an orange and hope to... Neptune? That it changes the text form the default black. if it doesn't then I have to assume I need to change something else somewhere else in the .ini. But at least I now have known hex values for certain colors. Again, many thank-you's. ![]() XonE:32 EDIT: BLAST!: no success. Just changing the color lines has no effect. At least I got some Hex color data so thanks again danlisa. I will now attempt Webster's suggestion of changing Font 19 (i.e. Agency_16) and hope it doesn't mess up other stuff in the process. It's used about 48 times and I only need to change about 6 values lol. BLAST!: no success. I didn't think changing the .tga would work as I think the color is controlled from the .ini. I must be editing the wrong lines.
