Increasing resolution?

I've searched the forums a bit and found stuff but I want to make sure I get the latest and the best patch.

I want to play the game in higher resolution than the original out of the box 1024 x 768...

wow i have had this game for like 8 or 9 months and I just now got the resolution fixed. this is the 2nd greatest d/l for sh3 GWX being the 1st

Take a look. GWX is a MOD to SH3. A huge modification to SH3 making it almost a new game. I must admit I have downloaded the mod but not installed it yet. Been 2 years since I've played SH3 so I'm playing stock verison + some mods to refresh my memory (the 4 gig on the top of my head I think)

I'm afraid I did read the "Readme" but it still doesn't make much sense,not really very precise For the likes of me in needs to be very precise and step by stepSorry.Quick questions,does this work with all graphic cards and settings?,my monitor that I'm using at the mo will display 1440x900 RES,will that be ok?

LOL, no problem. I did mean the download page readme as the original is crap.

This mod forces SH3 (and any super mods) to run in resolutions higher than the original coded 1024 x 768.

The original readme is included in the archive.

Instructions:

1) Extract the contents of SH3_XPSP2_Res_Fix_for_1.4b;

2) Copy & Paste the following files to the main SH3 program folder, usually this is C:\Program Files\Silent Hunter 3:

d3d9.dll
SHIII.sdb
SP2 Rez fix uninstall.bat
SP2 Rez fix.bat

3) Once copied, run the SP2 Rez fix.bat file.

4) Edit the d3d9.cfg file on the following lines to include your desired resolution:

resX=1280
resY=960

5) While there, add your desired screeshot path to the line below (please note this mod disables the Ctrl + F11 function, you must use PrtScr):

screenshotPath=C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\SH3 Screens (for example).

6) Start your game and enjoy SH3 as it was ment to be.

NOTE - This fix does not correct aspect ratios for widescreen displays. As yet there is no fix for that.

Don't know about your res, never had need to try it. Give it a go and if it deosn't work, no harm no foul.

Riiiiiight,Ive done everything in the readme,and I'm going to give it a whirl,thanks for the help and wish me luck

Bugger That didn't work,the red load bar nearly gets there with a half inch to fill up and then............CTD,well nearly,just black screen of death and I have to Ctrl Alt Delete out to find that SH3 isn't responding,double buggerWhy is it always me

Bump No career's will load now just gets near the end of the load bar and then a CTD,stupid thing is its obviously working cause the emblems are much clearer in the specials section is 1440x900 to high?monitor says it will do it,its set for 75Hrz,does that have an effect could really do with some help from people who have got this working or any tech heads out there,any help greatly appreciated

I have mine at 1600x1200 and it works fine. I think the resolution fix doesnt work with the wide screen resolutions or something.
