Default Advice on TM 1.7 etc for returnee

Hi, I've just returned to SH4 after a long hiatus and I'm downloading TM 1.7 to install over SH4 + UBM V1.5.

I do however have three questions which I've looked into but which I can't quite find a complete answer to:

1. Werner Sobe's Natural Sinking Mechanics 3.1 is listed as being in TM 1.7. Is this the latest version? I ask because I saw reference to a 4.0 of the sinking mechanics mod somewhere and don't want to be stuck with stock's crappy sinking mechanics of Hit Points determining everything. Alternately, is there something better than Werner's NSM 3.1 that I should install instead?

2. The ReadMe lists w-clear's Environmental mod 4.1 as being used in TM 1.7. As the Environmental mod is now up to Real Environment I am wondering if installing that would break TM.

3. Lastly, what is the difference in campaign layers between TM and RSRD... I am looking for relatively historical encounters at historical times but from reading the mods I'm not sure if sticking with TM or installing RSRD on top of TM would be best with that.

Lastly, are there any links to threads with graphics tweaks to get the best quality and sight distance possible? I ask because I've got a quad-core 2.83 Ghz computer with 8 Gb RAM and a 1 Gb dedicated graphics card GTX 285 ) so I'm pretty interested in ramping the graphics up to the max if at all possible.

Apologies for the glut of questions. I'm just eager to get started with as few egregious errors as possible in the installs.

Nothing better than NSM 3.1. I think Ducimus used some of NSM but do not quote me. The ships in TMO do sink faster and break in two as well. It seems more close to stock to me. I think it is close enough for me.

It should not break TMO. Some have installed RE without issue.

Ducimus reduced traffic but left enough convoys to make you happy. He also assigned a special mission between regular patrols. RSRD is more historical in nature. If you do use RSRD there is a separate mod for TMO and it is loaded after TMO.

You should have no problem running SH4 and launching the Space Shuttle all at the same time with that computer. Ramp away!

I have played both. RSRD is a must to me. I am not clear if or how RSRD changes the AI's sensors in TMO, but I believe it does.

RFB, more historical for sure, TMO a little harder AI and the planes can be quite evil. I've been damaged at 200ft.

Can't say which I prefer...I wish I could mix the two together.
