I remember there being a few discussion on Hearts of Iron 2 Multiplayer as well as single player campaigns? But I can't find the thread anywhere..

Anyways, because of this I figured I'd start one for any who still play it. What are your favorite countries, tactics, etc?

I'm currently in the April 1941 playing the Soviet Union, Germany hadn't attacked me yet, so I decided to initiate. I had a large infantry force in the Baltics (took them over in early 1940) and kept launching attacks against East Prussia as well as into Western Poland. With a large motorized and Armored Force, I punched through Romania (which I had annexed, also in 1940) into Hungary and managed to annex them just in early March. Now working on Slovakia.

My plan is to keep the majority of Germanies large divisions tied up north with the continuous infantry attacks while my armoured cores punch through Slovakia and eventually up into Southern Poland and drive them all the way to the Baltic Sea to create a giant pocket. With my infantry continuously tightening it from the Baltic States and the Romanian reserve forces coming up to finish the job. I also attempted a naval landing in Trondheim to cut off the german forces stationed near the Norwegian/Finnish border, but they were intercepted and sank . 6 of my most experienced Infantry (Mountain) Divisions, who'd fought valiantly to capture Finland, drowned in the Barents Sea off of Murmansk.

AAAhhh, HOI 2 storys, have quite afiew.

Hmm, one from my soviet campaign awhile back...

Wanting to change history I invaded poland in 1939, got halfway though, and germany declared war on me. Poland signed a peace treatie with me, ending that, but germany was still a problem.

Somehow The allies still declared war on germany, and I had to finish the job, so I built 50 transports, and with escort from the russian navy, landed in east prussia, and north of berlin. We got down to munich and the advance slowed, the mountains and winter caused us to stop.

Eventualy the germans where annexed, and I finished off poland, italy, and the balkans.

After a year of fighting hard in asia, with japan, and its puppets the French, British, americans, and everyone else in the world declared war on me. Since all my forces where held up in asia, I had very little to hold the west, so I held on for dear life with around 40 divisions agains british, french and some american divisions, Fighting to the death till we got to around berlin, and there, we set up a defence, since I put anouther 40 divisions to the west. There we held till the french & friends pushed center in summer, as the center folded I took advantage and flanked with my north and south armys cutting them off, and with that, did a steady advance west, makeing the front farther away fron the encircled units.

We quickly moved west to the coast, and distroyed the french, and some british units.

But in SE asia, bad stuff started happening, the americans had landed, and now China was a brawl between 3 forces. Though soon the japanease asked us for peace, I accepted.

In 1943, about a half year after the french campaign, The british invasion started, I landed in the south, north, and east. the whole campaign had 45 divisions gived to it. while we prepared for the invasion of the middle east, and india

Britian soon folded, as I cut north off from south, and the invasion of afganastan and india in 1947 went swiftly. We reached the american defences and dug in with 115 divisions

But in Eastern russia, anouther attack was forming, a attack to land 450 divisions on alaska/western America with 300 transports. sadly in 1949, the game save got *******ed up.

The main thread was here, and there are a few smaller threads and AARs scattered about too.

I haven't played stock HoI2 in quite a while, since I much prefer HoI3 to it. Though I do still play HoI2 with mods like Kaiserreich and 1914, since HoI3 doesn't have that many yet.

Great story Task

The only problem with my HOI2 so far, is, because it's on Mac, I don't know how to load/most of the mods out there, do not load or support a Mac

Still in the soviet campaign; all in the Month of april, 1st, 5th and 6th Tank Armies have been wrecking things in Slovakia. Within the Month I've managed to annex Slovakia and break through into South Poland, with 1st Tank Army taking care of a small German Breakthrough that occured into North Western Romania. However, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Tank Armies haven't been faring very well up North. We have a breakthrough that was stopped short of Danzig but I'm holding them there til 1st, 5th and 6th can swing North around Austria and close the gap and Danzig.

My assaults into Norway have not fared well at all, but I'm still tying up a combined German divisions (5 of which are tanks) with only 13 Mountain and infatry divisions.

All in all, the campaign is going according to plan in Europe. As soon as it hits winter and the front has stagnated I'm going to bring in my Strategic and Tactical bombers and keep the bombs raining until spring hits and I'll resume my offensive into Germany.

As for the allies and Japan, they've all been content with sitting in their strongholds and watching me do the leg work. Japan has made little headway in China (due to my aid to Communist China) so there hasn't been much to worry about out East.

June 16th, 1942

The Soviet advances have captured Berlin! However the Nazis have moved their capital further West to Essen.

I am running into problems now, my tank armies, battered and depleted, having fought there way from Belorussia and Ukraine all the way to Berlin and Nuremburg, are in need of rest. Add to that, that my forces in southern Austria have not gained any ground in two months has me frustrated. Three new Tanks Armies are being formed, with Mechanized instead of Motorized infantry. However, their commanders are not nearly as experienced as my Guards Armies. Thus, hopefully when I transition the front to them, they won't give any ground. So that, leading up to Fall, my Guards armies can make another push into Eastern France.

November 22nd 1940, Germany surrenders all of her territories, the German-Soviet Dispute of 1940 is over. 1st through 6th Guards Tank armies crushed the Germans in Poland and in the Reich itself. Now, Austria is in the midst of being annexed as well. France, a shadow of itself is easily over run, with the Vichy French bowing down to Soviet power and becoming a puppet state. Mussolinis Italy is next, and in less then a week, all of mainland Italy is captured. Finally, Franco, the last Facist leader of Hitlers time is all that stands between the Soviets and complete annihilation of the Nazi party and its ties. In 3 weeks Spain too falls.

At last, Germany and her allies have been defeated. Now, the Beast from the East looks west, across that narrow straight of water to Britain, the last European power not devoted to communism..
