Common ingame problems and solutions
In this post I've gathered some of the most common ingame problems that new and sometimes also more seasoned Silent Hunter 4 players may come across. These are all pretty well represented in this forum, I bet we get a thread on at least one of them every day. My purpose is to stick to "problems" related to gameplay, not technical or mod related problems. As you'll later notice most of these aren't actually problems at all, but more like undocumented features and things that are good to know. If you have anything to add post it to this thread, and I'll add it to the list

Yes, good job here. Now if we could also teach, or perhaps show them how to use to the search function. Just in the last couple of days I've answered the "I can't find" kind of post a bunch of times, then I went and posted a link for them. Took me all of a minute and a half to find it !

![]() Since I'm new to this and have been diligently scouring old threads, maybe I can add some to your list. I'm only using 1.4 stock so don't know if they apply for mods or 1.5. 1. Reassign deck gun and aa gun crew to boat compartments to avoid them getting wounded along with gun damage during depth charge attacks. 2. Sunrise and sunset times vary with boat location, the time on the screen is base time. I guess most newbies can figure this out by themselves, though. 3. There's no way to edit markpoints with your own text. The manual lies! ![]() 4. There's a clickable board next to the big map in the office to see if you are an ace skipper. Stumbled upon that myself...happily the USS Pike is leading the fleet right now! ![]() 5. Enemy destroyers blink an actual contact signal to each other when they detect you. That will tell you that you've been detected so you can act promptly. You will also know that if you get a depth charge, too. ![]() 6. If your boat does not have a surface radar, it will still have a non-functional radar room. (Applies for my Porpoise class, not sure about others) More when I find them... |

One question.
I'm playing TMO, and I notice while I'm looking through the Uzo, that the command to set a ship as target for the deck gun is disabled. Is there a fix for this? |

I notice that playing Trigger Maru-Overhauled, while looking though the Uzo, about 3rd from the far right, is a buttom that is blacked out. Placing the cursor over it, it says, "set as target for deck gun". This does not work. |
