Default [TEC] Changing crew voices?

Pretty simple request here. After starting a new career with RFB 1.52 + RFB Patch, and RSRDC.. I noticed most (not all) of my audible crew have the same voice. All OODs, the diving officers, navigators, sound the same. The sonarman, and radioman use different voices.

My question is, how to change them during a campaign? I browsed through the ActiveUserPlayerUnits file of my chosen save game, but editing the Voice=0 to a specific speech folder did not change the voice of that said crewman. It's not a big deal, I'd just like a little more individual uniqueness to my crew. Right now, unless it's the sonarman or the radioman speaking, I feel like my boat is starting to sound like HAL.

Thanks in advance, appreciate it.

Shameless bump. No ideas? The more I try to change it and get no results, the more it feels like I'm on a boat full of robots. Really sapping the immersion from my career.

Hi Crexion,
have you found the sounds? it should be in data/sounds/speech or something (can't remember as im on work right now), when you find them the only thing you need is some voice actors and then record the sentences from them and overwrite the sounds in the directory with the recorded sentences.. :hmm:

Or maybe I misunderstand your question?

i think he means the different numbered folders in ...sounds/speech

each folder has the same commands but from different voices, if you change your crew around a bit inside the boat you'll notice some of em 'draw' their voices from different folders

i once tried messing around with it, but all i got to is this: the hypothesis that crew get 'assigned' their voice at career start

could be that you're just unlucky in that all sonar guys and helmsmen happen to have been assigned their voices from the same folder (number 2 or something)?

Thanks Kriller and Bosje for your replies. I think you're correct Bosje. Nothing I seem to alter in the savegame folder seems to work. The only logical place it would be is in the ActiveUserPlayerUnits file in the save folder. In that file, there's a listing for Head=0 Voice=0 Tattoo=0 for each crewman on the boat (along with other essential things, like medals earned, etc etc). I at least know that it's being updated by the campaign itself. I also edited this file earlier on to get the crew slots back for my bow deck gun upgrade.

Changing the Voice=X to a specific speech folder does not alter that crewman's speech. All of my navigators, my diving officers, and bridge officers (among the 3 shifts) ALL draw from the same voice folder. I think it's folder 2. The only ones that are different on the boat are the sonarman and raidoman.

If they're assigned random speech folders at the start of a career, I REALLY got the shaft on the randomness. 75% (a big guess, but sure feels like it) of my crew use the same speech folder.

Default new crew voices

Please make a voice mod that has Jennifer Tilly (bride of Chuckie!) as the crew voice.

Hey, this the twentuy first century and my boat could use some women aboard!

I suspect that would get annoying incredibely fast. Anyways, after some testing I can conclude that something's not proper with my install/mod installs. Every career I start; all the diving officers, bridge officers, navigators, and helmsmen all sound exactly the same. Something's not right.

I'm a little too deep in my current career to attempt a fresh reinstall/mod install at the moment, but when I finish it'll be first on the list.

How about the Roadrunner's "Meep, Meep" when a fish makes contact" And Bullwinkle or Yosemite Sam on the hydrophone? Endless possibilities!
