cheating? I want to play with a XXI in early war.

Is this possible? I want at the start of my career play with a XXI.

What do I have to change?
mods shcommander, jsgme, gwx2.1, sound mod.

I know it's not good, but i want too.

There's been tons of threads on that here, but sadly you can't search for "XXI" because it is only 3 letters.

I have the original files on my old machine (haven't installed SH3 on the new one yet), which is currently lying in pieces in my bedroom with a busted video card.

Before I switched to GWX, I did some kind of slipshod editing of the *.cfg files in the program files/ubisoft/sh3/data folder. I think you just have to pick through the "flotilla.cfg" file for your desired flotilla. There's an entry for each flotilla that determines what u-boat you start with.

Sorry to be so vague, but I don't have the files I changed on hand for reference.

And your wish come true without messing up with your files which is very dangerous at any time. Mod is JSGME ready.

If you don't use JSGME (it's must have) mod contains readme file. Just read and follow instructions.

While It's not what your looking for.

You can play the all the Single Missions with a XXI if you want.

You'll soon tire of shooting " Fish in a Barrel " as they say.

If you do make file changes be sure to backup files first.

Also be cautious about changeing files in GWX.

I don't see it as cheating because the only game Dalton74 is altering is his. If thats how he wants to play the game then I reckon thats up to him. If Dalton74 was altering the game to get an advantage over others in Multiplayer then that would be a bit different.

Good Idea would be to Rename Your SH Folder & Sortcut the same,Re-Install your Game,Hit Repair,Now you are putting In a Copy Of your SH,Keep 1 Clean,use the other for Changing any files ie Mods,etc etc,Now you have 2 copys of your Game,Its as easy as that

Do what I did, and move the relevant files to the mod folder (from the other thread referenced above), make the changes Stiebler recommended, use JSGME, off ya go. The detector issue isn't a problem until about early '44, but knowing that a plane is buzzing around above you is never bad information to know.

I usually do my carreers with a VIIB, but always thought it would be fun to do it with the XXI. Is there a nuclear sub out there also?

yeah, XXI with unlimited O2, fuel and batteries. (and maybe unlimited compressed air)
