Default Finally I Got One

I've made a career of avoiding task forces and concentrated on shipping but this one came along and I couldn't resist. I believe it is the first one Ive ever run across on patrol, outside of a harbor. OK ..so it is just an escort...it is still a carrier...and I hope it took down a bunch of those pesky planes that are always giving so much grief.

Well, any that didn't go down with it have a pretty good chance of not having a place to land, unless you're near land, so it comes to the same thing.

Nice one mate,i have the same(restricted)tactic but on some convoy routes you can get kinda stuck between a convoy and a taskforce...and i cant resist too,i even risk my boat to sink one, dodging depth charges to get another shot etc..makes the game exciting at times, and keeps my crew on edge,i even had a heavy destroyer sacrificing himself to save a carrier, when they saw my torpedoes it immediately accelerated to 'intercept' the torpedo's,which it did very succesfully.

I was wondering if this was programmed in the AI,or just a coincidence...maybe someone can shed a light on that one?

yes they will do that for carriers and sometimes for yamato or kongo battleships too but i think it needs to be a destroyer with a veteran crew to do it because sometimes DD in the same curcumstances will just get out of the way and let you sink em.

You got one of those weird looking Taiyos. Congrats! I never sank one of those, but did get some other carriers before. One time I came across a lone Hiryu puttsing along at 5 knots. It was a free 35,000 tons! Where's the bridge on the Taiyo, anyway? Do they run the entire ship from the crows nest at the bow? That's gotta be a rather lonely feeling during a thunderstorm!

Yep, you are right... another thing to remember...around here they have a saying... kill one fly... then a hundred will come to the funeral .

Yeah I have the same creed as you. Focus on shipping and leave the task forces be. And like you I said the hell with it a few nights ago. The result? One Matsuki destroyer now lying in two pieces on the ocean floor.

The split is hard to see but it outlined it in black. Possibly not the best choice but it gets the point across.

I never have tried for a Destroyer. It is on my "to do" list though.

I maybe should have never posted this thread. I went out on my next patrol today and got 2 -back to back missions to do photo recons of carriers in port...

Well...does that file under: " no good deed shall ever go unpunished"
or "speak of the devil and he shall appear?"

I spent most of the day creeping ,dodging, laying low and bellysliding in real time....

I don't shoot at ships in harbor. I try to play along with the sim and just get the recon photos like the big man ordered...but it does require an awsome investment in time because you are very limited in using TC to get these jobs done.

It was just that it had been so long since I had received a photo recon mission order I had almost forgotten about them. Then I sunk a carrier at sea, mentioned it... and wham-O..two recons in a row show up in the in-basket....
