Default I see the UK has PC issues as well...

School cancels traditional Christmass play as it conflicts with a Muslim holiday

Umm, hardly PC.

More like bad planning.

School reschedules play to ensure full attendance.
If that isn't international news, I dunno what is!

Damm those people with their differing time schedules!

SteamWake, did you come to this forum after the STEED era? If so you would have missed his timely updates on the UK's political correctness epidemic :rotfl:

It seems that everyone has problems with PC issues!

I would love to know how it is "against the Islamic view and ethos" to sing the national anthem???:hmm:

the telegraph doesn't seem very clear on the difference between a pantomime and a nativity play

How typical.
Not jumping on the "they took out jobs/send them all back" bandwagon or anything like that, but I am disappointed that the school seems incapable of even basic time and resource planning. 'Elementary' or what?
Methinks the head ought to maybe sit in on some of the lessons; she might learn a thing or two.

Imagine, cancelling the christmas do because of eid... and only reinstating it in january because parents of indigenous pupils complained.
Quote:
She said a letter, sent from “The staff at Greenwood Junior School', said: "It is with much regret that we
have had to cancel this year's Christmas performances. This is due to the Eid celebrations that take place
next week and its effect on our performers.”
Following outrage from parents, the school was forced to send out a second letter saying that the Christmas
play would be done in January.
Sent by the head teacher, Amber Latif, and Yvonne Wright, chair of governors, it apologised for “any
misunderstanding” but said it had to respect “the cultures and religions of all the children”.
It added: "The Christmas performance has not been cancelled outright but has been postponed until the New
Year.”
Still, at least there's a sensible voice from a muslim parent:
Quote:
"It's not that complicated; they could have one event on one day and another on another day, they should have
both celebrations at the school."
[STEED]mutters darkly about the consequences of becoming a minority in my own country, where some individuals have a total lack of dignity and seem prepared to throw out centuries of tradition for the sake of expediency [/STEED]

BAH! HUMBUG!
