Default Q about SH3 convoys spawning

I remember long ago that jace and nico discovered a bug in SH3 where escorts with entrydate later (or earlier?) than the convoy leader would not be spawned, was that corrected in later patches or are there some cautions one must take when programming convoys for the random layer? :hmm:

The mission editor wont late you make a group where the group leader has a build date after the other units in the SCR layer
Never had that problem with generic entries in the RND layer though
Lead ship should be a merchant anyway or shows as a TF

Havent noticed any odd behaviours
GWX 2.1 RND is approx 90% generic with the only exceptions being lit ships or darkened ships in convoys for neutral countries or historical units
And AFAIK all units spawn correctly
( havent seen them all ingame :rotfl: )

Any particular problem\idea you are working on Hitman ?

Cheers BBW, many thanks for the info

I am just doing a simplified layer with only arctic convoys for my GWX 13th Flotilla careers, so I can have way faster loading times (The Achilles Heel of this game ). My layer is only 1943 onwards and has JW-WJ convoys, some random task forces, russian & german coastal traffic and some hunter killer group in 1945. A quick job, but 100 times worth it

I will ask later how to add german aerial support near Cape North

Ah I see

Good idea
I guess SH4 has that edge
Files seperated into regions and only loading those within a certain KM of the player

Alot of work for all 30 000 convoys for sure
You should sail by with those few



With that small a file you can fthings correctly

Aye thanks

One more Q: Will the convoy get stuck against land if I have it sail from the Arkhanjelsk fjord outwards? I do not like to spawn convoys far from harbors

The convoy will be a mess till it clears
As long plenty sea around spawning area they will sorth themselves out
BUT as they wont spawn in rendering range of a player unit you usually wont see it

I try not form up in a port as many formed up outside in the roads
