Recovery of save games after CTD.

Hello sea dogs (salty or otherwise)

I had a crash to desktop last night. Today, I find I cannot load any of my career save games.

I pick one, I get the graphical loading picture, then I get the black screen with PLEASE WAIT on it as usual, and then the game seems to resize to a black square about half my usual screen size, and crashes back to the desktop.

I run 1.4 with no mods at all, pure vanilla. These save games have all come from 1.4, as I patched it immediately after purchasing.

Is this something anyone can help with?
