Default Slow internet with comp and xbox?

I've got an xbox hooked up on internet via router with pc of course also through router. Both hard wired to router. The xbox crowd is saying that it's slow/laggy online when the comp is on the internet.

Anybody familiar with this? With the so-called extreme high speed connection, it's been ok AFAIK and shouldn't be a problem. Aside from peaks in area usage and so on, I don't see why the xbox should be laggy.

well I've never done this before but, I think what you would want to do is probably mess around with QOS (Quality of Service) on the router. Again I've never done this but if your router is half decent (my old linksys 54G can do it) but what you will want to do is set it up so that you have static IP addresses and that the Xbox ( say IP 192.168.1.100) has priority over the PC (192.168.1.101). If you statically assign the IPs they won't change so the Xbox will always have precedence.

Most causes of lag online are due to PING rates and not line speed. You can have awesome speed but sh*te pings.

Check what your ping is.

If that's fine, check your PC for spyware/adware etc....to see if something is hogging your bandwidth.
Also, could the PC & Xbox be sharing router ports?:hmm:
