Default Myst Series: Banana or Blessing?

I never really knew what to think of the Myst games. They were mind-boggling at some points, but there were points where I thought "why am I playing this again?". So I want your thoughts and opinions on the 'Myst' serires of games.

Start with Myst III, then go back to the first two if you like it. Myst I has very much simpler graphics etc, but still atmospheric. Riven was on seperate disks which needed changing everytime you move between locations. Might have been packaged onto one disk by now though.

I don't know, would he get the story if he started on Myst III?

Riven was by far the WORST myst game, if only for the changing disks/having to island hop every 2 minutes.
