It's not a "sport" it's "sports entertainment" ! It's a big, testosterone filled soap opera !

Really though , they need to get some more charismatic wrestlers with better character gimmicks in there though. Lately, most of the wrestlers mostly have just their real names with no gimick whatsoever.

I'd much rather see a match between The Undertaker and Mankind than seeing Mark Calaway vs Mick Foley.

They need more gimick characters and the plots need to get more cartoony than they are now to hold my interest.

They have no one to match Stone Cold Steve Austin's charisma and character (And I thought he had more charisma than Hulk Hogan though a LOT of people would fight me tooth and nail about that. )

But yes, I only picked up on this because I love the older days. Now its just women bouncing around and steroid filled retards doing the same old thing over and over.

Hogan had charisma, but very little actual talent. His matches were often just him getting his ass kicked, spazzing out, big boot, legdrop.

Flair was hilarious at every point in the match, whether it be doing a 'Flair Flop' or hitting someone 4 or 5 times, realising it has no effect, then begging for his life afterwards :rotfl:

A friend of mine who is a wrestling fanatic has a Hulk Hogan alarm clock and it has to be the most ANOYING thing in the morning to wake up to. The alarm goes:
"UP AND AT EM' BROTHERS !! IT'S TIME TO START SAYING YOUR PRAYERS AND TAKING YOUR VITAMINGS !! WHATCHA GONNA DO WHEN THE POWER OF HULKAMANIA RUNS WILD ON YOOOOOOOOOU !!!" Or something like that.

They should have made a Rick Flair alarm clock that goes "WHOOOOOOOOO !!!"

That's correct and I wouldn't want it any other way. Like I said.. It's a big testosterone filled soap opera complete with heroes, villains, convoluted plotlines, etc...

Actually, it's a little known fact that the wrestlers actually do make up the stuff as they go along in the ring (and in the interview segments as well usually). The outcome of the match is pre-determined, but the person who actually MANAGES the match is the referee. The ref is actually in charge. He watches the wrestlers but he watches the audience more. He will gauge the audiences reactions to stuff and will tell the fighters in the ring what to do, when to start winning, when to start losing, when to finish the match, etc...

The wrestlers also REALLY DO hit each other and they do use real steel chairs and tables. It's just that they are tough enough to take the punishment and made themselves used to it (god bless them). The downside is that a body can only take so much of it until it can't take it any more. Look how many of the older wrestlers have permanent or even cripleing injuries. Add steroids to the mix and it gets worse.

Back in high school, I was friends with Jules Strongbow's daughter (Chief Jay Strongbow's brother and also a wrestler) so I knew him pretty well. His knees were shot, his back was shot, oh.. and after all those years of service in the WWF and WCW, he was living in a regular old condo apartment and driving a big crappy station wagon. He said that really, you don't make much money wrestling unless you're one of the top five draws or so. Not only that, the wrestling companies don't pay health insurance, nor did they pay for transportation to the veneus that they were doing their shows from. Even his brother Jay Strongbow didn't make that much money and he's a Hall of Famer.

I do think wrestling would be a tad more interesting if they downplayed the smut that they've been writing these past several years, but aparently the smut sells. I've gotten tired of wanting to tune in to see creative characters, interesting plot twists, only to see boobs jiggling in front of me every few minutes.
