Default Silent Hunter 3 1.4b & GWX 2.0 Online-Compare it

I have tried many times to play on GWX 2.0 online AND the first GWX, I have failed every time. When I play on Silent Hunter III 1.4b online it works!

Why can't I play GWX online but I can only play 1.4b online? What causes this?

Can you explain in a bit more detail what you mean by "failed everytime". Does GWX 2.0 not load for you, does the game crash?..that sort of thing.

It has been my experience that playing 2.0 online is problematic. Perhaps it's due to it loading so much stuff that it can't handle the data flow efficiently even with low pings, I don't know. In contrast, I can play GWX 1.3 online reasonably well. There's one group (sub equivalent of a clan) that has managed to alter the way 2.0 loads and they report reliable gaming online. One of the biggest problems I've experienced is a huge disparity between what the host sees and what I, as a client, sees. Ships take what should be mortal hits, begin to go down, then bob up and down like corks with their gunners still shooting everytime the ship bounces back to the surface before going back under for another endless cycle. I may see a merchant ablaze with thick columns of smoke, but the host sees it as undamaged. The host and I talk on voice comms and compare what we're seeing. We've pumped dozens of eels into bobbing ships with virtually no effect. It's very annoying, but I accept the fact that GWX is primarily designed as an offline game and in that, it excels. At least with GWX 1.3 I can still get a large measure of the good things GWX brings even though I miss some of the 2.0 features. Try GWX 1.03 online, it beats stock SH3 by a longshot.

Well, on GWX 2.0, I can join a game..but when it is launched a few minutes AFTER the loading process is done my game will crash. Every time. I can't play either GWX online.

Hi, i can play on line with GWX2.0 since when i removed all default GWX mods installed by JSGME. In fact you need the exact files configuration with other mates.. so ask them about their mods..
I reduced RAM usage by shut down uneeded programs, too. this could help in loading.

i hope this will help you..

bye!

I could open task manager and end a few programs. It's just that I don't want to shutdown my ZoneAlarm. I know there are other programs that are able to be ended..but won't it ruin my computer?

Sag75 is correct.....everyone playing online must have the exact same parameters as those used by the person hosting the game.

Graphics are the only exception.
