sucesful atack against a convoy , :(
convoy report
radar contact so now i estimated course and speed and set myself to lay in their paths my estimation was great i was just between the DD screen and the convoy at a perfect 90 degree angle i was doing all this at 1x tension raises, i open my doors hoping that no dd will hear the sound of the doors opening i set all my torpedoes, i fire a spread of all torpedoes the wheather is rough and the japanese cant see the wake my clock ticking time for impact...............................nothing i go on outside view all the torpedoes managed to not hit anything and the japanese didnt even maneuver, the torpedoes just went trough exactly the small gaps between japanese ships dissapointment. has this ever happened to you, were bad luck just screwed up an otherwise perfect situations? ![]() ![]() ![]() The lesson learned was to work more on my targetting/TDC skills and the fact that a "spread" may only result in minor damage even if you hit anything due to lack of concentrated fire if you get my drift. I haven't made the same mistake since, I now tend to be more selective with targetting and avoid firing a "spread". Someone will probably back me up on this but I'd recommend you target a specific ship, fire two or three torpedoes, target the next ship, fire two or three torpedoes, break contact to reload (if the destroyers let you!!) then re-engage later. More probability that you'll hit your intended target with enough torpedoes to sink it as opposed to just hitting a ship with one torpedo (which, unless in the right spot/depth rarely sinks a large merchant). |

Sounds really frusturating, although that specific situation has never happened before for me. As tomoose said, it might be better to target specific ships.
