Covert operations ie harbour creeps this is for the people who are getting bored of the combat side of things, ie every game thats played theres shooting involved, well i do know that some of you guys are more mission forfilment or objective orentated players meaning you dont need to shoot to enjoy yourself just achieve a goal.
The two parts of project charlie one side had been abandoned (couldnt figure it out ((mission making sutible for wide community)), but the documentation side is availible for any one who wishs to read into certain aspects of covert operations. Reason for the documentation is so you can follow what your doing ![]() What i would find more helpful is the input from the comunity about mission scenaris and some help in maybe getting some put up maybe. So what do you guys think?

How do ya get bored to shoot at things?
![]() Heck if i would own a rifle, i would be at the shooting range all the time.. What comes to this simulator, i think the hunt for other subs and surface vessels is the main part of enjoyment. I dont get kicks for only been undetected, i want blood. ![]() |

Then thats what you prefer doing, yes on occasion i do shoot at things but i do like to do goal and objective games as well rather than just sit around and shoot the hell out of every one, i own rifles and im not shooting everyday because the novelty wears off after a time.

I think sometimes people overstate the whole, "I'm bored with shooting missions." The reason they're bored is that the missions are usually poorly designed in the sense of there not really being much consideration given to why you're supposed to kill something anyhow.
Wars are fought to accomplish a political goal, so a good scenario (shooting or not) needs to be designed with that in mind. I think that's especially important because wars at sea are driven by politics on land. If that much is not understood then there's probably no rationale for the scenario at all, hence you're just shooting torpedoes for it's own sake. Since DW is a tactical simulation, it's always best to think about what's going on at an operational and strategic level, when you put together the scenario goals. A good shooting mission in my mind has something specific I'm supposed to kill, which has some larger significance than it's own ability to kill me. Good examples are amphibs, combat logistics ships, carriers, and SSBNs. With the exception of SSBNs all of those vessels has a limited capacity to destroy my vessel. The reason they're important to kill is that they can influence the next higher level of battle. In these sorts of missions, it doesn't really matter much if I destroy a lot of surface combattants, aircraft, or other attack submarines. I'm left with a choice, in the end, of destroying them or evading them. In a Kilo, for example, the choice of evasion versus destruction can weigh decisively in the outcome of the scenario because they lack sufficient reloads to fire more than a salvo or two at a high value unit, so that leaves you with a certain amount of risk in destroying a surface combattant. You might be able to get through a screen by shooting your way in, but at the cost of maybe not being able to sink the important target because you're more likely to miss. In these sorts of scenarios, you really are hunting because you're looking for something specific and you have to make choices and compromises. Another good shooting mission is where I'm supposed to defend something specific. In that case, it'd just be putting myself on the opposite side of the coin, screening an amphib, CLF ship, CV, or SSBN. If that's the case then ultimately, it doesn't matter if I shoot everything on the map, if they kill the thing I'm supposed to be protecting, then I've lost the game. Here you really are hunting as well, because you know there's something dangerous out there, and you might be able to protect yourself, but can you protect something else? Driving around the ocean, sinking a bunch of scattered ships with no planned defense gets boring because it's a free for all. When they have some thought and purpose behind them, though, gets much more challenging. Quote:
