So, I was digging around in my basement today... (pictures inside)
And I came across a box. I opened it up and found pictures of my cousin, Randall Tuttle, who was an ace of World War II in the Pacific. Randall died sometime in 1943 with about 8 victories to his credit while strafing an airfield. He flew a P-47 Thunderbolt and, just like his cousin Byron, was an only child. Byron died in 1944 in a B-17G over Germany while bombing submarine pens. Here are the pictures:

I love the Jug too. A psychic once told me that I was shot down in one over Europe in my last life. Might explain why I always find the 47 the easiest plane for me to fly in sims.

They'll be going away in a safe that I keep under a concrete slab in my basement. Hey, tornadoes aren't fun.

Why does Randall Tuttle sound so familiar? Was there ever anything about him in Flight Journal or anything?

Not that I'm aware. It's possible, though.

http://www.csd.uwo.ca/Elevon/aces.html How did the Islamic Republic of Iran let you fly as a pilot when your cousins were Americans?:hmm: Last edited by Happy Times; 01-25-08 at 05:43 AM. |

This makes me wish I had those old wartime pictures of my grandfather. He was a reconnaissance pilot stationed in southern England. He used to fly over France and take pictures of enemy fortifications in his little plane (That looks pretty much like your typical pleasure planes you see in the small airports today). He said that he actually became friends with several of the German reconnaissance pilots who were flying the other way each day and doing pretty much the same thing he was doing at the time. They would wave at each other as they would fly past each other, hehe. He probably would have been court marshaled for that if his superiors found out.
At one point, I know he crashed his plane in France, but it wasn't due to enemy fire and he wasn't captured. I think the engine conked out or something like that. I don't recall the whole story, but he had a picture of himself standing next to the smashed up plane. His plane was nammed "Diane" after my mother who was born a month or so after he was shipped over there. I'm going to have to look up his war reccord some day and maybe piece together everything.
