err, are you volunteering to do it? :p I'm not a modder, (although I certainly know how to write code), but I have a pretty good appreciation of the absolutely massive effort that something like GWX represents. I know I would not want to try tackling it.

Because not all mods share the same vision, or perception on how things should be. We (modders) help each other out, to help each other acheive our end goals, but our end goals are not always the same. And for this, i think our mod community in SH4, is worthy of the highest praise. But Yes there is overlap, but the end "vision" of the game is often different. For this reason, people have choices of what sort of game they want to play.
SInce comparisons to SH3 are unavoidable, while you don't see it today, the very same thing existed before in SH3. There are acutally two super mods for SH3. NYGM and GWX. (and before them, a whole lot of smaller mods) You dont see much of NYGM anymore because the modders responsible for it moved on to other things. With no technical support, or ad campaign, it fades from memory. GWX stayed on, provides support, and is always advertising itself, so now its all you see. SH4 will eventually turn out the same way i suspect. Today you have RFB, TM, and RSRD . I am eventualy going to be moving on, and TM will stop being supported. I hope someone picks it up, but i honestly doubt anyone will. RFB will probably gather steam and continue to refine the game, long after i've thrown in the towel. So in the future, RFB and RSRD is probably all you'll see, and this topic will be rather moot. :rotfl: |

Another reason not to do it now is a lot of mods are still in development. There is at least one more SH4 and maybe more patches to come which will throw all the modders into another round of fixes. SH3 was stable on it's last patch for a long time before GWX came out. It's WAY TOO EARLY.

Yep, many things preventing this for now but it will happen. RFB is quiet behind the scenes making a large package to load....eventually. Many new modders learning the files and structure. Reading up on historical aspect. Sometimes in between this they go to work and eat. But, if you look at this way. I remember downloading GWX 1.3 and it was 5 very large downloads. It is similar here. RFB is a large download, ROW is a large download, RSRD is a large download and TM is a large download. I run:
RFB ROW RSRD Three downloads for a large mod package. I throw in tid bits like the new watch textures and longer evasion mod for kicks. Some run: TM ROW RSRD Again, three downloads for a large mod package. It is all in how you look at it. Now Sober squished a bunch together for Sobers Super Mod Package and it has been quite successful. Fear not, one day it will be in one handy package to download, activate and sail off into history ![]() |

SH4 is coming along nicely, a couple of larger mods TM and RFB, throw in RSRD and then your pick all of the smaller mods, and you have a great experience right now
