Default corrupted save games with RFB 1.52

This is happening with alarming and extremely frustrating frequency. Basically, CTD when saving during a mission/patrol; when I try to reload the savegame, it CTD's.

What do I do about it?

There's a known stock problem when you save a game underwater (I think it is) with enemy ships nearby. I think this still persists with V1.5 and the mods cannot correct this.
The way around this was to save on the surface with no enemies in the area.

I stand corrected.

Can't really say I've had corrupted savegames beause of saving at a particular situation. I've saved underwater, near land, near enemy units, near friendly units, in combat and never had a problem with that. The only time I've managed to corrupt a save was when I saved, then installed some mods and tried to reload the save. No-go, CTD just before it was time to enter the 3D-world.

I see your signature reads TMO, but you're having the save problems when running RFB. Are you running them in different SH4 installations with their own folders in My Documents, not just enabling/disabling one with JSGME?

You may want to post this on the RFB thread, include activated mod list.

I have yet to induce a CTD with a saved game while surfaced, submerged and with merchants or groups of ships.

Happy Hunting!

I gravitate between TMO and RFB. I just haven't gotten around to updating the signature. I'll do that most rickey-tick.

>>Wilke-

Thanks for that, I'll relegate this sort of thing to the RFB thread from here on.

Rgr that. Do you have each in its own SH4 install, with MultiSH4 used to make them both use their own savegame folders in My Documents?

This is important because if you save while you have mod A enabled, then disable A and enable B, you will still have files left-over from A in My Documents, which might not work with files from B. The result is corrupted saves and other weird things. To be safe one should always delete the SH4 folder in My Documents or at least start a fresh career when changing from for example TMO to RFB, the mods are so different.

Well, I did a fresh install, deleted all the old careers and now it is CTD'ing whenever I try to save during a patrol.

I GIVE UP!! I'll come back to RFB when the new version comes out. It's making me crazy.

BINGO! I did that ~ deleted everything in the doc's folder, and now she works fine.

Thanks, for that! I hope others pick up on this.
