Career mission won't start

Hello everyone,

Well i finally decided to get silent hunter 4, so yesterday i installed it and got it running, i played through all the sub school missions so i decided it was time to start a career. Annnnnnd i can't.
When i click on the map to start a mission, i get the briefing then click next, and that takes me to a map where i choose my starting location (docked in the harbour or at sea) so i check the 'docked' box and click on start... nothing happens...click again...nothing happens so could you guys help me out? Has anyone had that same problem?

My PC specs--> Amd Athlon XP 3000+, 1GB ram, Nvidia G6800 126mb ram
Mods i use-->
_Taihosan Maru Fix (Jace11)
_SI Recognition Manual Kit
_SI HUD kit
_SI PERISCOPE&TBT Interface Kit
_SI OPTICS Kit
_Reduced Traffic Mod
_Parab's fewer radio contacts
_Stand alone LBO
_Natural Sinking MEchanics 3.2 Light
_Ultimate Soundpack.

cheers

Im not tryin to be a smart ass here but...

It may just be a patience issue. Somtimes 'carriers' can take up to and over 10 minutes to load.

Oh and welcome to the forums.

Try removing all of the mods and see if that makes a difference.

@Steamwake
I don't think it is a patience issue, as the mission doesn't even start to load! I click on 'Start' and nothing happens (i hear that 'click' sound the game plays when you press a menu button though)
Oh, and thanks for the welcome

@John Channing
That's exactly what i just did, i still had the same problem, i guess i'll have to reinstall then. Thanks for the help though.

cheers (and sorry for my bad english)

EDIT: alright problem solved a fresh reinstall did the trick, can a moderator close the topic please?

It happened because one of these mods " _SI Recognition Manual Kit", " _SI HUD kit" or " _SI PERISCOPE&TBT Interface Kit" changed the "data\menu\menu_1024_768.ini" file and the button's id so it was no longer recognized by the game.

Also, make sure you install the 1.3 patch and that the mods are 1.3 compatible.

As a lesson to all, use all the features of the game before you start throwing mods at it. You'll then know what to expect and when something doesn't work as opposed to an intended game feature. Just so you know, 10 minutes is not a normal load time for starting a new career.

Not to take away from Striking_eagle's problem but I had a strange one happen yersteday.

I'd finished my 2nd patrol and Docked then saved. Then installed the Mini Chrono and Green Lamp mods. Loaded SH4 and sat waiting for 10 minutes for it to finish. Nothing. So I Ctrl-Alt-Delete out and get this error.... "Menu ID Not Found Ox421700061". I've never seen this before. So I uninstall those 2 mods and still got the same error msg twice along with SH4 has a problem and needs to close. Anyone seen this before and have a fix short of a reinstall of SH4/1.3?

Well when i had my problem, uninstalling all the mods had no effect whatsoever, so i guess you're in for a reinstall...

Well, I just tried again. First I ran Error Killer for a complete resgistry and windows shortcut scan. It found 8 registry errors and 3 shortcut errors. Hit Fix Problems and reran SH4. Low and behold it's now loading as it should. Sorry about that stupid question.

:hmm: Weird way to fix loading of SH4 but it worked. Why, I've no idea.

Here's the link to this great program... www.errorkiller.com

It's not free but worth every penny you pay. I highly recommend it... if that means anything.

Edit: What they say is true in their opening page. It's NO Bull.
