Default New PC old Problem

Hi,

I have'nt been around for awhile partly to do with personal problems and a new PC I had built for me

My new PC is:

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz
2 Gig DDR2 Ram
Geforce 8800 GTX 768MB
250 Gig Barracuda HD
Onboard Sound etc.....

Old problem still persists and I thought or was hoping that with the kind of graphics card I now have that this old and persistant nuisance of an issue would have gone, but no its still there and nothing seems to have been done to put this right, what am I on about well its the flashing I get when on the Bridge view and free view, I did a thread about this before, so I apologise for bringing this up again.

I cannot believe that this is still happening, its a flash that comes every few minutes, my PC is brand new and my fans are all fine no heat problems at all, and I refuse to believe that its my PC, not a chance, drivers for card? possibly, but I should'nt have to keep changing drivers constantly when all other games are just fine, I know I am not alone with this problem, and was hoping on my return to see it listed in the 1.3 patch but nothing and I am very cross and frustrated as it totally spoils this game (perosnally speaking, I realise others may not be bothered as much as me), a game that I have followed since Silent Hunter 2, so for me unless this is going to be sorted, I will return to SH3, I don't want to and don't see why I should have to put up with this, with a game I paid good money for, for the problem to not even be noticed on a larger scale, as then perhaps it would have been fixed long ago.

I am sorry for my rant and its not focused at anyone, just a general comment due to my extreme annoyance.

A very disappointed SH4 Gamer

Perhaps the reason that it is not widely reported is because it is not a problem with the game, but rather the video drivers you are using?

Yes I realise that, and have tried all versions of the drivers for the GeForce 8800GTX and so far the same problem, if it is a driver issue then I hope Nvidia will sort it out, but in each release note for the drivers nothing is mentioned about SH4 so far that is

So it might be constructive to go to the Nvidia boards and post the problem there?

The flashing is something I've had on every PC and every version of SH3&4 I have played. I think it's coded into the game and related to the chaning of the lighting effects as the time of day changes. I also think the water changes do this. It looks to me as if the water depths/textures/colors load in grids and each time you pass a grid boundary the water is redrawn.

I have a pretty high end card and have seen this with several cards of different capability and different computer hardware over the course of severals years.
I don't think it's possible to get rid of it. I would never for a moment let it keep me from enjoying the game though. I don't even notice it most of the time likely because of my playing style.
