Default NEED some HELP

HI!
I was silently watching subsim.com community since 2005. But only now I decided to become a member of your wonderful brotherhood. I 've read a lot of information about SH 4(WoP) and information about its present status is contrary. if you will help me with several questions It would be great.

- should I buy DD version? I mean Is it true that with DD version U can reinstall as many times as you need without any problems (except MP)?

- should I buy 1.2 version or wait till 1.3 patch/version will be released?
(my gaming level on sh3, is fully manual but with WO help )

-Is my my hardware ok to play sh4 pow ? :
Pentium Core Duo 3.4 GHz,2 GBt RAM, 256 mb GeForce 7300 GT

- Any advise You think I need :-)

Welcome aboard, w-subcommander!

I'm currently playing the game with patch 1.2. There are a LOT of improvements that have been modded in by this community and that's one of the reasons the game is enjoyable. VERY much so, actually.

You might want to wait for the 1.3 patch (which should be due sometime soon) and while you wait, play some SH3 + GWX (but I'm guessing that's how you're playing already).

You system *should* be able to run SH IV just fine, but don't expect a lot in terms of eye candy: that video card is pretty low end (the processor and RAM are more than adequate but the video is bad).

Switch nailed it - the only issue you will have is that the vid card wont give you the full glory of graphix. But the game will be playable and enjoyable with what you have. As for DD and such - I honestly dont know how that kind of thing works - do yourself the favor of just getting the DVD. Then you dont have to worry about reinstall numbers.

As for 1.2 vs waiting for 1.3 - I would say just in. By the time you get acclimated - 1.3 will be out or around the corner. And yes - check the modding section for a number of great additions!

And Welcome Aboard!

Yes indeed, welcome aboard.

I can't help you on the D2D issues as I am the kinda guy who likes to have the packaging in my hand.

1.2 is fun and rewarding.

If you do buy 1.2 I wouldn't put any mods in just yet as it is anyone's guess as to whether or not they will be compatible with 1.3. It will be several weeks after the release of 1.3 before it is determined which mods work, which are no longer necessary and which don't work at all with 1.3 (and stand by for a lot of "1.3 BROKE MY GAME!!11! UBI IS TEH SUXXOORS" posts by people who install it and immediately throw the mods back in before testing it).

As I said 1.2 is good, 1.3 will be gooder! It's really just a judgement call as to whether you want to jump in now or wait a little bit. Either way you will enjoy it.

Have a look at upgrading your video card though. I'm running with less processor power, the same RAM but a GF 7800gs and it handles everything but busy ports without a problem ( I keep the "fog" turned off). Even in the ports it is only a little stuttery.... but the visuals in the game are just stunning.

Many times when I have 2 DDs looking for me I will set my motors at 1 knot, get below the layer and then just sit back and watch them hunting for me. Before I know it a half an hour has gone by like it was 60 seconds. Just like watching a movie.

Damn... now I want to go play some more , but the grass outside needs mowing!

Thank you, gents. I downloaded SH4 on my PC. I recorded dd, I copied it on back up disk ( and of couse I made back up of back up). Works fine. You just need to write down all codes provided to you. I dont need to keep freaking disk in my dvd-drive anymore.
Patched till 1.2. Even my G-force 256mb Nvidia works impressive, very impressive.
Graphics is crazy!!!! I m playing patrols and singles miss.
I decided to wait till 1.3 patch will be released to play campaign. and then I will try new mods. Now I m learning new stuff by practicing shooting and running away ( fast diving )
Thanks everyone for Help. 7 feets under keel!
