Default oh the horror!

I can no longer play GWX due to my computer . For some reason after playing GWX for about 3 weeks i can no longer due to my memory (i suspect). What happens is it loads and it may ctd during main load or career mode etc. It has been running fine on only 512mb all this time . My computer finally just gave up and Gwx is deleted. After those last 3 weeks i loaded up stock and felt so lonely and had a funny feeling. I guess stock isnt to bad but i cant imagine the rest of my life without GWX. I suppose i'll just play stock untill i can aquire a new memory card. I have a friend who might give me one. Ohhhhhh the horror.

Bad news, but before you write off the memory, download a decent memory tester and try it out. There is one available from microsoft that you burn to a CD-R then boot from that (its not possible to properly test your memory while running windows)
Many things could be causing your problem. Scan your HD for errors....

Run Flight Simulator auto start and get your memory back. Even better, invest in a bit more memory; or do both

I really doubt it's the memory. I was playing GWX for ages with 512MB RAM without any problems. My guess is that it's something else going wrong with your system. I would suggest a general Hardware/Software Check.

512 should be okay....ensure ALL programmes in the background are switched off. If its ran before on your system it should run again

Go to http://www.memtest86.com/, click Free Download and burn it to cd. Then boot with it and leave the test running for several hours. Any errors it finds will be reported.

To me it sounds more like a corrupted SH3 file... perhaps you should try a reinstall

Life without GWX is hardly worth living!

I hope you get your system fixed soon.

Ok. So i reinstalled just GWX v1.1. The main loading loaded fine and the menu ran smoothly. As i was loading a campaigne, about 3/4 of the way through the screen went black. A notice popped up saying my windows virtual memory is to low and some programs may be denied. Then it said SH3 has encountered an error and needs to close. So i guess it is my memory. I guess i will play stock till some memory shows up. Thankyou all. Anymore suggestions would be much appreciated.

When was the last time you ran Defrag? Could be a fragmentes page file causing probs. If nothing else it's worth a try. Make sure you get rid of any background progs and if you are on the net, shut down your link so no windows auto-update etc is running then give it another go.
