This is a split off another mod I did.

for sh4 v1.2
it places the american merchant marine flag
in the blank flag space for merchants in the rec manual

allso added is the nazi swas stika to the german flag

flags resourced from internet encylopedia

Good Man - I can't think of a better flag. From what I have heard and see about the Merchant Marine, those people had it rough in both the Atlantic and Pacific. I don't think I could done that kind of work. One second you are on this nice big ship. "BOOM!!!" the next you are drinking sea water and you ain't headed for the suface.

The pic from Tater represented the whole cover of the book, not just the flag

May be you can mod the whole book cover to make it look like the real ONI208J of the picture (Hint, hint... )

That sounds like an interesting idea,

but im not quite sure how I would make it work
the rec manual cover is one file with the different flags
and names inserted for each catagory / country.

so it would be easy to make it look like that but making a functioning
could be tricky.

:hmm: Well here are some wild suggestions:

1: Start by doing the cover in the clearer coffe-brown colour and with the texture you want. Put only the lettering of the second and following rows "RECOGNITION MANUAL", "ONI-208J" and "Revised"

2: Change the flag graphics for bigger graphics that have the flag in the same clearer coffe-brown colour and with the texture you want, plus the matching lettering F.e. under the flag of japan the lettering "Japanese merchant Shipping". May be some tweaking of 1024menu ini is necessary.

Here is an example: Highlighted in red is teh new square for the flag, now bigger and with the proper lettering for the matching section of the book:
