Walking around a Gato

OK . . . I have been able to move infront of the map table . . . and up in the conning tower . . . and a bunch of other positions . . . but is that all for movement? And was there more movement in SHIII?

Shift + F2 gives you the free-cam, use the arrows to go where you want within that room

Left click for "mouse look" then steer around with the arrow keys.

Very similar to the exterior cam.

You have to hold it untill the end of your patrol, or you can ask your crew on the bridge to turn around while you take care of buisness.

if you go back to the 1.1 update you can press shift + f2 and walk around the bridge and on top of your sub.

Having the whole boat modelled in full 3D would indeed be great and a real boon to immersiveness. I've found that once I'm settled on the approach course and the initial firing solution is fed into the TDC, I tend to spend a lot of time at 1x TC soaking up the atmosphere in the control room and conning tower between observations. Having the option to tour the whole ship (or at least more parts of it than what's modelled today) would be very neat.

No other compartments are modeled in game. You'll need to be running 1.1 if you want to use "shift+f2" on the bridge. If you are running 1.2, "shift+f2" puts you back in the control room.
