Default Bungo Pete ?

Well.....thought I'd try RSRDC with TM. So, installed RSRDC v110 (for TM-1.6.5) over TM-1.6.5. Started a new career in Dec '41 and took Trout on her 1st war patrol assignment: in the area just to the south of the Bungo Suido.
Shortly after entering the patrol area in late Dec '41, got a report of a small convoy headed west at 16 knots. I plotted a search pattern and picked it up after a couple of hours -> 1 Fubuki class destroyer ahead, 1 large passenger carrier, and another Fubuki astern; course 240 at 16 knots. Got a fix on the passenger carrier, turned the position keeper on, and executed an end-around at flank to get into attack position. Got where I thought I needed to be a few hours after dusk. Fairly bright night, so dove for a night periscope attack. Unfortunately, with the convoy track, I figured if I didn't close the range; the shot would be too long. So, rang up full and headed in. Shortly thereafter, the lead Fubuki headed towards me, bone-in-teeth. Took Trout deep and immediately picked up echo-ranging. Went to 200', under a thermal layer and tried to get away. Both destroyers dropped charges, none close. To my surprise, they were able to track me. Took Trout down some more, to 325', dropped to 1/3, and rigged for silent running. It **appears** they're not finding me, so, I'm heading north. At this point, I saved and exited.
All of the other escorts I've encountered - even in TM - haven't been this decent, particularly this early in the war. Could this be the famed Bungo Pete ? and will we have a submarine with him as in the book ?
