Did you manually set the depth? There is the theory/bug that the depth setting - even when using imperial - still registers meters. This would meen a setting of 15 - would mean 15 METERS instead of feet - 15 would be like 46 feet - way too deep to detonate against or under a DD.

DD's are small fast and agile. dont waste fish on them, unless it's either you or him. even still, by then its usually too late. just stay away from those bastards.

CaptainHaplo, set the depth manually, shallow as setting indicator will allow.

popeye, thxs, for advise, but one less DD to contend with makes sense in a convoy attack.

I was thinking; it may be a bug/feature,representing deep runners.even so you should be able to set depth for a surface runner,in the game.:hmm:

My finest momnent so far has been the massacre of a 10 ship convoy in the Celebes Sea. I sank the 2 Mitsukis escorts first and then took out the other 8 ships. Depth was set at 5 on both Mitsukis.

I don't think that the depth setting in imperial mode is in meters. After playing around in the mission builder i've come to the conclusion that the ship's drafts in the recognition manual vs. the modeled ship's draft are out of whack. Some ships seem to be right, but some are shallower or vica versa

Under normal situations(nothing odd) I have usually found that when under imperial settings my torps will almost always hit a DD if set at 5-6 on the dial, if they were going to hit at all that is. I would concure though that DD's are fast and change course so much that unless the shot is very close that you shouldn't waste torps on them unless they seem to be heading on a constant course and you are undetected.

I guess we will turn on event camera,& see. Depth set to 5, it's got to be deep runners. Feature/bug,wish we could set shallower
Now we have all 4 DDs,needing a fish! We are using deflection angle to lead DDs in turns to hit.

i dunno. i've set mine to 15 and dropped a DD with one shot while the other kept goin cuz there was no target for it

Dud torpedoes

You probably had dud torpedoes. A big issue not resolved until mid 1943 when a skipper fired something like 4-6 duds in a row. Has to do with the angle on the bow at which the torpedo hits.
