Default Thank you SHIV/ubi

Thank you for inspiring me to go back to SHIII.
Not that my opinion matters any but to me even though going back to the pacific for SHIV was a logical choice, I think it was a gamble. I know SHIV is an improved version of the SHIII engine but to me III has extremely superior replay-ability than IV. I can't quite put my finger on why but the atmosphere just isn't the same in IV. Is it the theater of operations? The huge differences in the story/history of the two theaters? The lack of a sense of urgency? The IMHO clunky interface? The headaches that come with rushed code? All of the above? I don't know. I must admit though, I was really excited about IV and I love eye candy (more than I should). I played more than a few patrols in IV. I complained about the bugs and waited for the patches, then I gave it another chance. It's still yet to grow on me which is sad because environmentally it's a great looking sim. I still have stability issues with it (I know, don't give me any crap) that just exacorbate the annoyance. So to get my non-CTD'ing, non-beta, immersively satisfying fix for a subsim I've resurrected SHIII after months of being relagated to the dusty shelf that is nothing more than a wasteland of old retired games. It's for this that I say thank you, but above all, an even bigger thank you goes out to ALL the modders and folks who've contributed to making SHIII what it is today. . . . .

A superior experience overall.

Now if you'll pardon me, it seems I've recieved a radio report about a convoy in my grid.

The above is just my opinion, I do hope that someday SHIV will capture me. Afterall, I don't think it's completely crap, it has potential.

Thank you u-bones, I'm positive I've read something of yours that was helpful to me. Sincerely thank you.

It sure does just as SH3 did. I will tell you, as much as I loved SH3 with the larger mods installed, I like SH4 better with minimally installed mods. Basically all I have is a few textures and the reduced radio traffic mod. If the game is this good for me in the basic vanilla state, it will only get better.

Anyway, SH3 has been completely removed from my computer. I do not have any intentions of loading it up again. To each their own I guess.

Hi bobo

Your opinion is shared by more the a few members. There are a
handful of members that feel a begging cup approach is the
solution. And I'm sure UBI suits are laughing at that. If you look
at it from a business and credibility stand point. It would be afore
mentioned suicide to not at least patch if not somewhat finish.
Time will tell. Besides, alot of members are enjoying it and that is
in no small part by are GREAT MODDER community. .

I have SH3 and SH4 too.

I've been playing SHII and the Pacific Aces mod. To me they are enjoyable.

Perhaps they care. I could see some possible results:

- improved SHIV through another patch
- a better overall SHV on release day
- no SHV at all, why bother with these people they say
- very few modding options in SHV, since modded SH5 might keep people from buying SH6
- frustrated developers
- lots of laughter in the office - "who is this bobo guy" ?
- strange looks, nodding, etc.

All i'm after is another hefty patch or a few more minor ones to get things like the radar fixed. SH4 is a much better game due to several things.

-Graphics
-Theatre (I'm Australia so it's nice to see my country on the map for once.
-Mission variety (Recon missions, commando drop offs) awesome work!
-Ability to refit
-New crew management

My game no longer crashes after 1.2 and to be honest SH3 still crashed on me last time I played due to the old crew management bugs.
