Default Mods that change "menu_1024_768.ini" vs. resolution changes?

This might be a stupid question, but I am playing Silent Hunter IV on a resolution which is higher than the 1024x768 that was the maximum for Silent Hunter III. Now, I see a lot of very useful mods being posted here which are talking about making changes to the "menu_1024_768.ini" file. Does this mean the mod in question only works in the 1024x768 graphics mode?

I am asking this because I have trouble getting the mods that do change the "menu_1024_768.ini" to work. One such mod is the "360 degrees bearing plot imperial" mod, which, after installation, either freezes the game completely to the loading screen, or gives me a warning about something in "menu_1024_768.ini" which is not recognisable and crashes the game, or then the game starts, but absolutely no bearings plot is being created to my own ship, no matter what zoom level I use in the navigational map.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Of course, if these mods actually only work for the 1024x768 resolution, then that is a drawback, but I think I can live with it.

no. it's just a name of a file. in-game resolution doesn't have anything to do with it.
