Default Yahoo im finally going broadband!

Actually i should change my name to Caveman as i live like one.

Joining up With NZ www.xnet.co.nz our charges are probably way dearer compare to most other countries, but i am finally changing over!!! - within a week!. Got the dsl modem, the network hub, am using BNC network cards at the moment but changing over to hub and faster network cards. Im already to say bye bye to dialup!

Charges:
$28 monthly fee
1 cent per mb, with pay what usage i use per month, i figured with online gaming/streaming my limit would be around 10-15gigs per month?

3 different speeds, I choose the 256kb DL with 128kb upload yeah its not extremly fast but it beats 5kbps dialup!

No more loading up GetRight and downloading 100mb patches only to wait for 5 hrs. Last dialup download was the SHIV 1.2 patch. I thought thats it, no more of this torture!

Its been a big thing over here when signing over to bb, Telecom is currupt as hell but owns the rights to the Network core and have refused to update it even tho last yr they made a 17 million profit. The network core was setup in the 1970's and is way overdue for a refit. The govenment handed over the rights to the network to telecom in the 1970's. Some have said telecom wont update the network cause other internet providers will offer cheaper rates for faster bb than telecom. Sooner or later TeleCON have to upgrade, their reputation is not good, a yr ago an advertisement on UTube mocking the telecom boss over what she said, She has resigned this yr. The govenment is putting pressure on them. It's not looking good. I was going to wait for when they fall from grace. But i cannot wait any longer, Im probably the only one left that uses dialup in NZ. :rotfl:
We have one of the slowest faultiest Broadband in the world, Australia cream us with there speeds so no guessing the USA and other countries do the same.

RIP Dialup

How fast are your speeds? What are your monthly costs. Just curious.

Well kiwi, welcome to the world of broadband! I struggle to believe that some people are still on dialup sometimes.. but then every month when i get my bill i realise why!

And true that we have somewhat faster bb speeds than you, but if you believe the latest anti-govt smear campaign, the only way to get our bb above places like Hungary's and Romania's is to steal from our super funds... not quite that bad but you know.

the difference will be remarkable!

Your gonna love it mate. A whole new world of on-line gaming waits at your feet.
I can remember the days of dial up and they were torture. Leaving the computer on all night, only to find that you've lost the connection in the morning

Congrats mate.

P.s used to be quite fast, but I was with NTL who've been bought out by Virgin, who've turned out to be sh#t

Yeah i was playing Guildwars online with dialup for 2 yrs with no problems then i notice the last couple of months the game became unplayable everytime i joined a group and we went into the mission i would have to wait for the latest download which was only 5 to 10mbs but thats like 30min wait so by the time i went in i was way behind, i usually would just quit. I've stop playing GW since. Have played Battlefield 2142 at a mates who has bb and realize there and then i got to get BB, even use to play SH3 with dialup and once i started a host guys were getting 700pings :rotfl: Use to play Americas army on dialup Far out i remeber the lag i would get, at times i would fire a shot and 3sec later it would fire :rotfl: But i still KEPT PLAYING! :rotfl:

With this BB I aim to do alot of catching up in online gaming

Just remember, Kiwi, now that you have broadband, your coal powered PC's fuel consumption will double.

10 MB downloading, 1 MB uploading, 45€ a month. Rather expensive, if you think of it, but it's fast allright. Of course, those are just figures, not reality- you still get slower speeds sometimes, especially on weekends and evenings. But basically the high speeds allow you to ram through pretty much every kind of blockage, that's why I have it.

I have seen it faster, tho. I pay about 40-50 canadian per month... Well, actually, I have VOIP, Cable TV and broadband on the same account, which comes up to 120$ per month.

The free long distances make it worth it, at least for me
