help a cluesless person out!

Wow this is daunting, I've decided i'll try manual targeting... So far, I've managed to fluke my way through with guessing a few things, but i'd like to be sure.

1. How do I determin the exact AoB?

2. How do I use the stadimeter correctly?

I've watched a manual TDC training video, it was grainy and hard to see, but I've been putting the ghost image of the ship onto the tip of the mast in my sights, is this correct?

3. Best way (in game / no charts ) to determin the targets speed.

I appriciate all and any help
