Default Battle ship Marat

I think the Soviet Battleship is a nice addition, however was not in the Pacific...matter of fact was sunk by Hans Ulrich Rudel...The only Golden Oakleaves, Swords and Diamonds holder in the 3rd Reich.

He also destroyed 150 anti-aircraft and anti-tank positions, 800 motor vehicles, a Soviet Cruiser, a Soviet Destroyer, 70 Soviet landing craft, and numerous bridges and bunkers. He also heavily damaged another Soviet Battleship, the October Revolution.

I have a large collection of Naval Books, Im a military historian...and if anything I have a VAST amounts of pics of World War 2 battleships...if anyone needs help...

Wait, there's a Marat in the game?

Someone cloned the stock Fuso class Japanese BB to represent it. The same modder also cloned the Kuma class to represent a Soviet CL.

In which case I suppose it's a bit odd calling it a true Marat model in the first place. I can see where the parallel is from, but hey, Fuso is still Fuso, even for all the structural similarities.:hmm:

Not that I have anything against stand-in models! Just saying, I don't think it's fair to criticize them too much.

Default Clones

@ CCIP - You're completely right - sometimes clones can be great additions to the Silent Hunter series (just look at Sergbuto's first two merchants for SHIII, or the USS Essex by Cdre Gibs ). Sometimes though, the differences between the RL ship and the clone can be a little too great - in this case, the Fuso and Marat classes are quite different. Also, jmjohnson36 is right about these ships never seeing Pacific service anyway.

BTW - I am not criticising using existing ships to build new ones - every single ship I have ever built for SHIII is a kitbash aftr all. Some have been more accurate than others.:hmm:
