i recently asked this question on gamespot's sh4 forum to no avail yet, so i thought i'd ask a bigger community:
is it just me or is the recognition manual not accurate? i am setting torpedo depth to about 1 m below the stated ship draft in the manual but my torpedos end up being much lower than one meter and dont go off because they are out of influence range, anyone know why? its very annoying wasting torpedoes that wont go off because they are too low... ive tried using both metric and imperial, in sh3 i could make the torps go off right under the ships because of the magnetic pin, now i can visually see them ending up a lot deeper than they are intended. |

This was a historical problem with the Mk. 14 torpedo.

really? so using mk. 10's would fix this problem until later in the war when they fixed that problem?

I don't have SH4, but in SH3 it mattered if ship was empty or heavy.

The Naval Weapons Command insisted for the longest time that there was nothing wrong with the MK14. But that didn't keepTorpedomen from often disabling the magnetic exploder device after leaving port. I've read that in some cases they even rebuilt the contact exploders underway to beef them up and make them more reliable. It was a patrol by Mush Morton, I believe, that finally convinced the Weapons guys that maybe the Mk14 was hosed.

yeah i read that the developer even ordered skippers to fire 10 ft above what they would usually fire because they didnt want to waste time fixing them.
i was testing out the mk. 10 and it annoys me how they have trouble taking down a fletcher so i might just try aiming 10 ft above or just using contact |
