Default Sh4 still playable, even with the all bugs?

After reading all the bug threads, I am too scared to buy the game now. What are people's opinion on this, we know that there are bugs in the game, however, are these bugs so major that it ruins the game entirely, or is the game still playable?

Another question for the people who has been playing this, is that is the gaming experience very reminiscent with SH3, what i mean that does it feel like playing the same game again, or does it involve so much new that it feels like it is definatelly worth getting this one (feels like a better game than SH3 was - which was already extremely good)?

Is there finally wolfpacks in the SH4?

I think this question is a bit premature. There's a patch coming out today. People need to install it and try it out first before a real opinion can be offered up.

This depends on what level of user you are I think. If you are not yet hard core manual TDC-everything, and want to enjoy the game a bit before the patch comes out (already has actually), then I would say go for it. I know I am having a blast with it, just learning the ropes and enjoying the scenery and new surprises. It definitely has the feel of a new game, with the larger boats and just the general immersion in the Pacific. A few qthings I really noticed/liked comapred to SH3:

-Great sounding gun action, both AA and Deck gun
-Love the Radar stations, very nice.
-I almost shed a tear when I heard the Bosun's Pipe call the watch to turn to
-Great enemy crew reactions...cowering on deck and general confusion during attacks.

I haven't got indepth with torpedo attacks yet, so i can't even comment on the issues people seem to be having with Stadimeters and crashes. I plan to learn all about the TDC in due time.

I know there are a lot of bug reports and negative vibes going on here right now, and I can see how this would scare away any potential customer. But this game is definitey worth checking out since many issues will be fixed/patched, and in some cases may even be hardware specific, so you never know what your experience will be like.

Maybe you should read ALL the threads, not just the bug threads. Many people are reporting having a great time. Yes, even they have some complaints, but they seem to be finding the game much, much more than just "playable".
