I have not played the game for more than a year now, and tried to load it up yesterday, everything seemed to be going fine till it got to the initializing screen, I then got a message that SHIII had encountered a problem and needed to close.
The details of the report: sh3.exe AppVer 1.4.0.1 MODNameKernel.dll MODVer 0.0.0.0 offset 00016ala Error report contents c\Docume~1\billCl~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\8CD3_appcompat.t xt Can anyone please explain this to me, and point to a fix, as a last resort I am prepared to uninstall the whole thing and reinstall it, BTW, I am running the last patched version 2.4 ?, and NYGM Tonnage mod V2. Thanks in advance guys. Bill. |

Bill,
I have no special knowledge of your problem. On my computer, I can't load the game unless I use the original movie files in Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII\ Data\Movies\Intro. Deleting them also works. For some reason these mess up the game if changed. Try removing them and see if this helps. Move them to a folder on your desktop (don't delete them) and see what happens.

I had at least similar problems. Some mods require a "clean" install of SHIII. If you end up doing a reinstall, be sure to find the SH3 files in your documents folder as the un-install doesn't seem to remove these. Then do a search for any files containing: sh3
You may end up with several matches that do not have anything to do with SHIII, but delete the ones that you are SURE of. This solved my problems. good luck! |

maybe your resolution or framerate is a problem.
i find that the game gets about 2/3rds of the way to loading ...then crashes if its a campaign/save/mod problem for it to get to the "Initialising engine" message....it seem so be something graphical or sound/hardware related? do a search mate....maybe theres a list of options to try ![]()

I am having a similar problem:
SH3 won't start when I have NYGM 3.0 (or 2.5 stand alone) installed. The game will crash even before the loading screen prior to the main menue is shown. As long as I don't have any NYGM activated in JSGME SH3 runs normally ![]() |

I think I solved the problem by deleting the intro movies in the /data/movies/intro folder of the SH3 installation.
I already had those deleted prior to the NYGM installation but apperantly the mod (or JSGME?) created new movie files in this directory. Anyway, the problem seems to be solved now for me. |
