NYGM Mod install problem

After a year or so, I have decided to get back into SHIII.

So, I have done:

Installed SHIII
Installed 1.4b patch
Installed JSGME
Installed No DVD patch via JSGME (yes, I own the game and have real disk)
Ran game for the first time

So the game loads fine.

Then I installed NYGM v2.2 Stand Alone version via JSGME.

Problem: Game does not load. Get a black screen only. Does not even run the intro videos.

Ideas?

System is reasonable good:

Intel 2.6 GHz with 1.5 GB RAM (DDR 400 in dual channel mode)
ATi X800 256 MB AGP video
2.5 GB Virtual Memory file
5+ GB free disk space
