Hey everyone,
I went to Subguru's site and downloaded Richard Manning's "Vladviostok" mission. When I downloaded the file and attempted to install it in my DW-scenarios folder I got a message saying "file already exists", but when I start DW and access the missions screen it doesn't show up. Is there a certain place that downloaded missions are supposed to go? Thanks for answering a stupid question. |

The missions and any associated files are 'zipped'. They should be unzipped into the DW Scenarios folder. |

sorry, I guess I should have clarified.
Bill, I did unzip the mission, and installed it to the SCENARIOS folder. Isn't the 2nd mission in the Russian Rebellion campaign also called "002_Vladviostok.mc" ? Isn't Richards misson also titled that? - hence the confusion or why I can't find it? If it is called that, wouldn't that title then over-write the actual campaign mission in the scenarios folder? |

Your confusion is understandable. *.mc files are part of a campaign. So you won't find that particular 'scenario' among the other single missions, only as part of the campaign list. If this 002_Vladivostok.mc was suppost to be a single mission by the writer (as it seemed being in the single mission list on .subguru.com; i haven't played this one yet) than it may have corrupted the Russian_Rebelion campaign (specifically mission 2) as you overwrote like you said. I hope you have a backup. Sounds like it was given an incorrect file extension, or it really was a campaign patch. The zip doesn't come with a readme to help explain this either. Let the writer come forward to set this one straight.

Thanks Pisces for explaining the differences in the naming. (.mc Vs .ms) I wasn't aware.
Hopefully someone will be in contact with the author to clarifiy things, as you stated. |

Since I'm the only person who's had a problem with this.
What are the rest of you doing when you download missions? |

I just copy it to Scenario folder. Filese with MS and MU extensions are found in Missions menu in the game. MC files are part of campaign. Each campaign needs one more file with CAM extensions. Campaigns and their missions are visible in Campaign menu.
What may confused you is that some campaigns (RSR too AFAIK) contains both MC and MS versions of the missions. You can either play whole campaign, or individual missions alone. Difference between campaign and single (or user) mission is that campaign missions must be played in defined order and platforms killed in one mission will not appear in next missions. Difference between MS and MU is that only MU missions are editable in mission editor. Just rename for example "Kilo demo.ms" to "Kilo demo.mu" and you'll be able to open it in mission editor. There is no other difference. There is also MP extension for multiplayer maps. Again, no difference against single missions, but these are offered for multiplayer matches. You can play Kilo demo in multiplayer if you modify the extension and mark FFG as playable in mission editor. I guess there is some extension for user campaign missions, I don't remember. Also note that missions can use custom WAV files. Such WAVs are included in mission archive and they too should be placed in Scenario folder. |
