Default Has anyone bought this book?

Illustrated Directory of Submarines of the World by David Miller

http://www.amazon.com/Illustrated-Di...926157-5914246

I'm thinking about buying it, but wanted to know if info on the more modern subs (LA, SW, Akula's) was detailed enough to be satisfying (which yes, I know 'satisfying is relative) with some mock diagrams of layouts.

Has anyone ever bought/seen it?

Can't go wrong there for that price and it is 400+ pages I have not bought it, I have the Kriegsmarine Guide, but not this one.

Edit: A copy of the U-Boat Commander's Handbook is heading my way, a little of topic but it has been on order for awhile, looking forward to it.

I have this book and in my view it is well worth it. Yes, it does contain info on modern subs such as the ones you mention.

It doesn't have internal diagramms, but it is a good reference.I got mine in Orlando for about $5.For internal stuff you wil have to buy US submarines since 1945 or Cold War submarines.Buy them through the Onkel's amazon site.

I do not have this one but do have U.S. Subs in action - a squadron/signal publications WARSHIPS NO. 2. Was $3.95 when I go it. About 50 pages all with great photos and comments. Covers all boats from the S-class to the Gato/Balao/Tench classes.

Also have US Submarines in World War II - An Illustrated History. By Larry Kimmett and Margaret Regis. Picked it up at the USS Nautlis museum outside of Groton Ct. couple years ago, Excellent book with lots of photos and articles on the sub battles. Also covers some subs in particular and the Medal of Honor men.

Happy Hunting
