Default Ot, Good News For Die-hard Games!!!!

Howdy yall,

I was looking around on Cnet.com and was surpriced about Vista comes with DUAL boot...

YES, you can install Windows XP Home/Pro.
Under windows XP, insert Windows Vista and install Vista...

But be sure you have at least... 15GB free HD space for Vista...

Heres a deal...

Sample: make a partition of Western Digital Raptor 74GB(as HDbooter)..
split it in half thas 37GB for each OS, plenty enough free spaces....

Step one, install XP first.
after Installing XP and you come in windows(insert Windows Vista) and click at install.
Select Partititon D for Vista, and sit back and relax....

Soon when you done installing Vista on D drive. than you can select wich OS you may use for games....

Here a link to check it outhttp://reviews.cnet.com/5208-12546-0...sageID=2024690

So dont be afraid that your SHIII willn't running on Vista, you always can rollback to Windows XP

Gosh i love Dual Boot yeeehaww!!!!

Gosh I dislike...

I wanted to say something bad about Microsift trying to be all friendly and nice. Did you know, the finally decided to talk to Novel about something that Novel stole from them years ago. Now they play nice and say it was "cooperation". It might have been, but what happened with all the years of court time spent because of this matter. "If you can't beat them, join them!" said someone when reading the news (not me).

I'll stop now, not to attract Potoroo.

And BTW, dual boot was known from before. If you can dual boot XP and Linux, why not another MC OS. Or another Linux. As long as you have HD space.

Oh wow. This isn't a big deal for me. I've been using Linux/XP multi boots for years now. Obviously the standard XP bootloader doesn't recognize Linux but a Lilo or Grub boot loader recognizes XP fine. I assume the Linux community has already worked out a patch for the bootloader to make it recognize Vista.

Actually I don't see how this is a big deal. XP lets you multi boot with any number of 98 or 95 installs also on the computer.

Actually if it wasn't the case that you could multi boot Vista it would be a big deal.

And to anyone who is willing to partition their har drive for multi installs I'd suggest having your data files that are separate from the OS on a separate partition. That way if you have to wipe out windows (of any kind) your files are still there, compartmentalized. That has saved me many times. I have a partition that hasn't been reformatted in more than 2 years and the windows install folder has been reformatted so many times I couldn't count.

Sorry to be a downer but this isn't big news for me.

Default Mac with Boot Camp:

P_Funk is right... I've been using dual booting and Boot Managers since the OS/2 and Win95 days, as many have, but thanks for the info. We've come a long way since my first Apple IIGS and 8088 XT clone.

I currently use a MacPro with Boot Camp (w/ XP Pro), works great. The MP is a screamer and plays SHIII better than my Dell 2nd Gen XPS did, and it was loaded.

Happy Hunting!
