I'm not surprised by this article, its just pushing its own anti-euro agenda.
It is a well know fact that british have no love for the euro and would love to keep the "pound" as their currency.
The euro was a good thing, particulary for southern european countries, italy, spain, greece.
In reality if it wasn't for the euro, italy would have already defaulted as argentina did some years ago.
So long live the euro, and if sacrifices are needed in order to remain in the eurozone so be it.
Maybe in the end De Gaulle was right about not wanting the UK into the european union. To much hassle.

Part of the problem with the Euro is that it tries to set the same standard for every country, but many countries can't or will not want to comply. Look how the voting is worked out, it isn't 1 vote per member is it??

I'm glad that Australia doesn't have a land border with another county, heck, sea boaders are bad enough!

Lets get this strait : nobody was coerced into accepting the euro.
There are european countries that don't have the euro and don't want it and they are just fine.
But once you accept to be in the eurozone, you must comply with the maastricht treaty parameters.
There has to be a standard set of parameters, otherwise each country in the eurozone would do as it pleases and to the hell with the €.
It is a harsh reality, but its the only way to have a comon curreny.

I guess I've been curious about how previously sovereign nations have adjusted to that same sovereignty being surrendered to politics of other previously sovereign nations. I noticed awhile back that the major advocates, France and Germany, couldn't have the EU constitution ratified. Around the same time those countries tried to block former soviet block countries from joining the EU. Going as far as the French president telling them [former soviet block countries] to keep their mouths shut.

Honestly, I admit ignorance to many of the issues confronting the EU and would like to learn more without relying on the internet. I suspect many on this forum have an opinion. Help me, out will ya?

Gladly: Why the European Union Must be Dismantled.
